Cotswolds UK – Textile Workshop

Date: 4th September 2025, 10:00 AM

At this two-day workshop in Cirencester, I’m offering four beautiful projects, where you can learn new, innovative techniques for making original, charming embroideries.

By special request, Rosie Dragon and Her Fairy Friends has been added to the list of my designs from which to choose:

Rosie Dragon is one very special embroidered dragon, created by me! If you love The Fairies’ Pet, then here is a version of Rosie that you can learn in two days at the Cotswolds’ workshop in September 2026. Rosie is joined by her tiny fairy friends, flitting amongst the ribbon roses, and playing with Rosie.

Spend Day 1 learning new techniques and clever ideas to create a delightful dragon as well as how to create a ribbon rose garden, and we will spend Day 2 learning how to make my innovative and diaphanous fairies, which you can create in various poses and add to any of your own embroidery. Once you know how much fun it is to make these fairy folk, you may well find them hiding in your embroidery everywhere!

Or choose from two wreaths, which reflect a warmth and charm that will grace your home, and can be used to top a jewellery or hat box, be framed, used to decorate a cushion, or stitched into a beautiful lingerie or nightwear bag.

Or choose the embroidered picture frame, “Sweet Memories”— perfect for turning a special photo of your choosing into an heirloom work of art, to be treasured forever. Learn to create embroidered flowers, blossoms, berries, and pods using unusual techniques and creative resources that turn surface embroidery into an ethereal garland that gently embraces the sweet memories of your chosen moment. You could frame your finished embroidery under glass, with a beautifully chosen gilt edge, or let your embroidered frame tell the story on its own. Romantic and dainty, you can personalise this hand-embroidered photo frame as an heirloom reminder of a sweet memory.

Please note that prices of kits listed here are for attendees only. All kits include the design transferred to the main fabric, so that you are ready to start stitching on the day. Kit preparation requires a lot of labour, and investment in materials by me. Where a supply used in my original design is no longer available, I have taken great care to find as similar a replacement as possible. Kits are keenly priced, often at cost or below-cost, to encourage your attendance at the workshop. If you wish to buy a kit and not attend the workshop, please note that kit prices will reflect the time and effort that I have invested into putting them together.

Available Kits:

  • Rosie Dragon and Her Fairy Friends: AUD$100 APPROX 50GBP (some embroidery experience an advantage)
  • Ribbons & Roses: AUD$160 APPROX 77GBP (intermediate)
  • Summerberry: AUD$85 APPROX 41GBP (a beginner could do this)
  • Sweet Memories: AUD$175 (some embroidery experience)

Please note that all kits are priced in AUD and are payable directly to me prior to the workshop.

Kits include the following:

  • Complete paper instructions with closeup photos and all drawings, etc.
  • Background fabric with the design transferred for you, so that you’re ready to start stitching.
  • All fabrics, threads, specialty threads, specialty fabrics, beads, sequins, charms, and needles—everything you need to complete the embroidery.
  • Sweet Memories kit includes the bevelled frame mat in 3 ½ “ x 4 ½” opening in off-white, suitable for a 4” x 6” photo.

What is not included:

  • Stretcher bars, hoops, presentation board, backing felt

Attendees Will Need to Bring:

  • Magnifier and lighting (as required)
  • A pair of ‘hack’ scissors and a pair of very sharp, long-pointed embroidery scissors

Hoop/Stretcher Bar Requirements:

  • For Rosie Dragon and Her Fairy Friends, a 9" or 10" hoop and a 4" hoop plus usual sewing requirements is good, plus (very important) very sharp, long-tipped scissors.
  • For Ribbons & Roses, a hoop of 11" is the minimum (12" is good), or a set of stretcher bars 13" x 13".
  • For Summerberry, a 10" hoop is good, or a set of stretcher bars 11" x 11".
  • For Sweet Memories, you will need stretcher bars 14" and 10", plus an 8" hoop. It is just possible to work Sweet Memories in a 12" (32cm) hoop, if you don’t have stretcher bars. You will need to provide your own photo; it can be of a wedding, or a baby, or a special person—anything at all that is special to you! Sepia and black & white photos will also look lovely. You do not need to bring the photo to the workshop, as the photo and mat are placed when all embroidery is complete.

Sweet Memories was designed exclusively for Cotswolds Textile Workshops.
