College Park Adelaide at the Bobbin Tree with Jodie Prymke

Date: 27th September 2024, 1:00 PM

You’ve sourced the finest quality materials and spent hours creating a magnificent piece of embroidered art. Now it’s time to have your masterpiece framed… and now is not the time to take shortcuts or take risks!

Join Taetia McEwen and Jodie Prymke on 27th September for a super practical and super informative session and Learn to Prepare Needlework for Framing Like a Pro.

Jodie Prymke is a highly qualified and certified picture framer with over 28 years of experience specializing in conservation framing, including the preservation of many historical textiles for private collectors, museums, councils, churches, and Government House. Learn from the expert the conservation techniques of lacing and pinning your needlework in readiness for framing or permanent display.

Knowing your needlework is stretched correctly will not only save money at the framer but also give you peace of mind ensuring your heirloom is preserved for generations to come.

Jodie will share tips on how to use templates to stretch your needlework and how to choose the best method. She will also share with you the secrets of the trade, including best practices and, equally as important, the deadly sins of framing to avoid at all costs!

“I truly believe it’s best to do things properly from the start, and one way is to learn to stretch your needlework yourself. It’s not difficult, but does take some planning, thought, and time. Once you know how, you’ll find the process extremely relaxing and satisfying.”

Important Note: Bring a finished embroidery or piece of fabric to practice on, not larger than 250mm x 200mm.
